EORNA ACE procedure1. Application for European Accreditation
The provider of a CME / CPD activity requests European Accreditation of that event with the EORNA ACE. Full details concerning the activity must be provided together with the application. This will be judged against the EORNA ACE quality criteria.
The provider submits the intended number of hours and the language(s) of the CME / CPD activity. By applying for European Accreditation the provider commits itself to adhere to the quality requirements as stated by the EORNA ACE (See EORNA ACE criteria for accreditation 2008V02). 2. Quality Assurance of the CME /CPD activity
The EORNA ACE may request professional advice from a professional body, which can not be the provider itself.
3. National approval
The EORNA ACE also may request approval from the national regulatory body of the country where the activity is taking place. When this is obtained, the EORNA ACE grants European accreditation.
Where national accreditation institutions are not in a position to do so or do not exist in a country, EORNA ACE will be the only assessor of the event for European Accreditation 4. Continuous accreditation of providers or accreditation of single activities
European accreditation is granted for single CME / CPD activities. Presently the EORNA ACE does not recognize continuous accreditation by providers. Providers who offer CME / CPD activities on a regular basis have to apply for accreditation on a case by case basis.
5. Confirmation of European Accreditation
The EORNA ACE will confirm the European accreditation to the provider and authorize the CME / CPD provider to publish the accreditation with the approved number of hours of credit in its brochures, advertisements and in the programme of the CME / CPD activity. For this purpose the standard EORNA ACE statement must be used in printed material concerning the CME / CPD activity:
"The < name of institution > (or) < title of the CME / CPD activity > is accredited by the EORNA ACE to provide the following CME / CPD activity for nursing and health care professionals. The EORNA ACE is an institution of the European Operating Room Nurses Association (EORNA) "The < title of the CME / CPD activity > is designated for a maximum of (or "for up to") < number of hours > hours of European external CME / CPD credits. Each nurse or healthcare professional should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity." 6. Proof of attendance
The above statement together with the number of granted ECMEC’s should be printed on the EORNA ACE certificate of attendance that the CME / CPD provider distributes to the participating nursing and health care professionals. They are themselves responsible for handling and preserving these documents and should utilise these documents when requested by local recognition Authorities.
7. Quality requirements for European Accreditation
For European accreditation the CME / CPD provider must comply with the requirements of the national CME / CPD authority in its home country.
By application for accreditation by the EORNA ACE the CME / CPD provider certifies that it complies with the basic criteria for the quality of CME / CPD as defined by the EORNA ACE (See EORNA ACE criteria for accreditation 2008V02). 8. Administrative expenses EORNA ACE
The administrative expenses of the EORNA ACE will be met by contributions by the CME / CPD providers obtaining European Accreditation based on a sliding scale published by EORNA ACE. (See Fee table on EORNA ACE reference guide 2008 V1 – p2-3)
9. Registration by the EORNA ACE
The EORNA ACE will keep a register of these CME / CPD activities with EORNA ACE accreditation and will supply the relevant information to CME / CPD authorities when requested.
