All theatre department nurse managers were advised of the impending celebration of this event. An e-mail was sent to remind all parties which included a letter from Anne O’Brien and Caroline Higgins (European reps.) which promoted the day and encouraged participation. The presidents letter and the poster was also forwarded. Each Theatre were asked to mark the occasion and send documentation of their activities. The event was announced at our Section meeting. It was also available on the web site.
INO received three documented responses of the activities. Each highlighted patient safety in the form of a lecture or poster and also notification of the special day. The safety aspects included Diathermy management, patient positioning and preparation of patient for surgery. INO had verbal response from two other venues who had noted the day and displayed the poster. It may be useful next year to advertise it in the journal.
