This time we focus primarily on the area of safe surgery, with an editorial from Dr Atul Gawande at the Harvard School of Public Health, in which he outlines the process which was adopted to get the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist up and running. There is also a related piece about the Global Pulse Oximetry Project, as well as updates on other programme areas, such as developments related to the second edition multiprofessional Curriculum Guide.
