EORNA wishes to you all a good International Nurses Day

EORNA wishes to you all a good International Nurses Day
May 2013

Dear Colleagues- we extend good wishes to you all on International Nurses Day,

May 12th is the celebration of International Nurses day ’.The 12th of May is the chosen date as it is the anniversary of the birthday of Florence Nightingale. This year’s theme is ’Closing the Gap- Millennium Goals 8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1’, Working towards 2015. To review the goals and other details please visit www.icn.ch .

Nurses contribute significantly to these goals worldwide, through many avenues. Some of which include quality practice delivery, education, contributing to missionary work and sharing of knowledge world-wide. The FOAN project is one such activity which is helping to close the ‘Gap’ as is ‘Lifebox’.

So this Monday take a moment to reflect on the work you do and the great service you give to the public. Celebrate your profession with pride and your contribution to patient care and safety and indeed your contribution towards the Millennium Goals. Nurses play a very diverse and important role in the Health Care arena.

No matter where you are or what area of nursing you work in, you can and do make a difference. Take a bow, thank you all for what you do well on a daily basis. Remember also EORNA theme this year ‘Perioperative Nursing- A Humane Profession’ let us continue together to be patient focussed displaying the qualities of compassion and empathy to our patients and fellow colleagues.
Happy Nurse’s day to one and all from myself and EORNA executive.

Yours sincerely

Caroline Higgins
